Rural Junior High School Teacher

Julie Morris

Julie Morris is a professional educator who continues to learn, engages students to do their best and goes out of her way to do what is best for the students.  When you ask individuals in the school and community to describe Julie Morris, they would use such words as very trustworthy, a very caring person, and always having compassion for not only her students but others as well.

In her third year as a valued member of the Macks Creek faculty, Julie currently serves as the middle school communication arts teacher for the district.  Ms. Morris does an excellent job with her students.  Her enthusiasm, her innovativeness and her genuine concern for education are exemplary.

The Macks Creek district experienced some rough times in the English department in the last few years, before Julie came.  The test scores were down, and the students were not learning to their capabilities.  Julie went right to work helping to revamp the English department.  A particular area she has worked hardest on was to improve the writing skills of her students.  Julie also helped to renew all the scoring guides for the English department.  Because of her skills and energy, her students test scores in Communication Arts continue to be some of the highest in the area and her ability level to motivate the unmotivated are unmatched from anyone.

Holding her students to high standards by continuously challenging them to understand how to use a lesson she has taught, her willingness to help any child succeed, as well as being an invaluable staff member, makes it appropriate to congratulate Julie Morris as Missouri’s Outstanding Rural Middle School Teacher for the 2014-2015 school year.
