Dr. Bryan Copple is currently the Superintendent of the Newtown-Harris R-III School District at Newtown, Missouri.There is a common expression, “High expectations yield high results.”This expression exemplifies the commitment that Dr. Copple has made to the Newtown-Harris School District for the past three years.His philosophy has always been that “kids come first” and that hard work and high expectations are the keys to success.
Bryan because a ‘true rural educator’ after his experience at the Savannah R-III and Chillicothe R-II as a building level administrator.His eyes were opened quickly, that the life of a small school rural administrator is different from the lives of the bigger rural schools.Bryan has learned through experience that the life of a rural school superintendent is not just developing and implementing budgets.He oversees bus routes, is a helping hand with cleaning, serving lunch as necessary while having first-hand knowledge of the instructional processes.These experiences have provided him with a widespread understanding of how a districts programs all must work together to ensure a quality learning environment.
During his tenure with the Newtown-Harris School District, he has worked tirelessly in the community to build support for the school district. In a relatively short time at Newtown-Harris, Dr. Copple has shown the ability to navigate the district through some very difficult times.As we all know, within the past several years, the state has struggled through some dire times with obstacles such as educational reform and financial shortcomings.Through the leadership of Bryan Copple, he has managed to increase the performance and give additional opportunities for kids in one of the smallest school districts (current student population of 106) in one of the most economically challenged areas of the state.Working with the board of education, Dr. Copple has been able to double the fund balances, implement the A+ program, and receive an 2013 APR district score of 93.6%.
Not only is Dr. Copple a great advocate for his district, he is considered as one of the leaders of the HDC Conference, by his colleagues, with his insight being very beneficial in the conference decision making process.
Accepting the role of doing whatever it takes for his students and teachers to be successful in the endeavor of learning and teaching, makes Dr. Bryan Copple deserving of recognition as Missouri’s Outstanding Rural District Administrator for 2014.
Dr. Copple should be the poster child for what is a committed educator looks like.One that is highly respected and beloved by those that know him personally and professionally. His leadership and willingness to “get his hands dirty” exhibits the qualities necessary to be selected as the Missouri Outstanding Rural District Administrator for 2013.
