Launch the media gallery 1 playerCole Haugen graduated from Helias High School in Jefferson City, MO. He is currently attending Truman State University, Kirksville, MO working on a major in Secondary Education with an emphasis in History.
Cole shares that he sees the necessity for qualified teachers to work in rural Missouri districts’, and he believes he has some of the qualifications necessary to successfully teach within such a setting. He believes the students of rural communities should have access to a well-rounded, quality education, just like any other students. Believing himself to be rather personable, Cole has found it easy to quickly create working relationships, both with students and faculty.
One of his college instructors shares that, “Cole’s commitment to working with young people is clear, as is his passion for teaching history and working in a rural environment.” Another instructor shares that Cole’s academic achievements are obvious and if asked to describe him, words such as creative, interpersonal, honest, spontaneous, generous and genuine come to mind.
Having the knowledge, leadership skills, work ethic and personality to be a successful teacher, makes it appropriate to congratulate Cole Haugen as the 2015 Philip C. Dorth Scholarship recipient.
