Elizabeth Lane
2012 L.J. Hart & Company Scholarship Recipient
Elizabeth Lane is a graduate of Smithton High School, Smithton, Missouri. She is currently attending the University of Central Missouri – Warrensburg, Missouri majoring in Secondary English Education.
Growing up in a small community, Elizabeth believes she can relate to the students and the atmosphere of a rural school. Because of the good experiences and education that she received at Smithton, she decided that someday she wanted to teach at a school like Smithton. “I loved the small class sizes and personal connections that were available at a smaller school. I felt comfortable asking for advice from teachers if I had a question or needed extra help. I was lucky to have several wonderful teachers who challenged me to push myself as a student.”
A college instructor shares that Elizabeth has a sterling reputation in our department. If you tried to do a computer mock-up of the ideal student, you would create something just like Elizabeth Lane. A former teacher shares that Elizabeth’s strong work ethic went beyond the classroom. A handful of students do everything at a rural school, and Elizabeth was one of those students.
Students, teachers, and administrators all respect Elizabeth for her ability to “get thing done” and for her natural inclinations to get along with everyone. We offer congratulations to Elizabeth Lane as a 2012 L.J. Hart & Company Scholarship recipient.
