Danette R. Stumpe
2009 David M. Cooper Scholarship
Danette R. Stumpe is for the second year the recipient of the David M. Cooper Scholarship. Danielle attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, Sullivan, Missouri. She is currently attending the University of Missouri - Columbia, Missouri working on a degree in Secondary English Education.
Danette shares that becoming a secondary Language Arts educator is imperative in helping students learn the importance of executing proper written communication no matter what field of study or path in the workforce they may chose to pursue beyond high school. Through her substitute teaching and pre-service teaching experience in local high schools, Danette shares her enjoyment of watching students realize their own abilities and further exploration where their interests may lead them.
One of her former teachers described Danette as having an excellent record as a leader at Sullivan High School. She was one never to settle for mediocrity, but everything she has done has been above and beyond the call of duty. Among her many recognitions was the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Award and Conference Rotary Academic Award.
One of her professors shares that Danette already carries herself as a committed professional. She takes her own education seriously, which is an important quality for a teacher. Her professionalism makes her a good role model for peers now and students of her future classroom.
Danette concludes by stating, "I know that positive student-teacher relationships are the key to successful educational experiences and students living in a rural area deserve nothing short of the best."
Congratulations to Danette Stumpe, the 2009 David M. Cooper Scholarship recipient.
