Launch the media gallery 1 player2008 marks the twenty-sixth year of outstanding service that Marilyn Bolinger has given to education. Mrs. Bolinger is in a unique situation because she teaches in two content areas that are in high demand -- Math and Science.
Normally, educators that might be classified as outstanding have acquired those skills over a number of years or are those professionals who are in their mid to late career. However, Marilyn Bolinger has provided excellent teaching skills to the Clarksburg students from the first day of her employment in the Clarksburg School District.
Mrs. Bolinger is described by one of her colleagues as a very caring person who is truly concerned about the welfare of her students. She treats each individual student as if they were the most important one in the classroom, spending many extra hours finding new ways of teaching. One of her great talents is keeping up with the latest research on education using new ideas to put forth 100 percent when working with her students to reach a level of understanding and mastery. Marilyn prides herself in being able to keep on the forefront of the latest educational programs by attending different training conferences including a Leadership Conference, Clear Access, Smart Board training, No Child Left Behind, Regional meetings on AYP, Conceptual Science Classes only to name a few.
The faculty and staff at Clarksburg are impressed with her working relationship and involvement in each of her students mastery of learning. Having earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Marilyn has been instrumental in her diligent work on the school district's curriculum, making it a model to other colleagues and a valuable resource for her teaching. Tremendous concern for her students' success is shown in the close communication she has with parents and by setting high expectations.
Mrs. Bolinger fulfills a number of leadership roles in the Clarksburg School District serving as the curriculum director for the last four years, serving on almost all of the various CTA committees throughout the years in addition to having served as the CTA President, CTA Vice-President, and CTA Secretary.
Marilyn Bolinger has inserted her personality, ethics, and excitement for learning into the hearts and minds of her students making it appropriate to congratulate her as Missouri's Outstanding Rural Junior High School Teacher for 2008.
