Launch the media gallery 1 playerWendy Brock has dedicated the last twenty years to the education of America's youth as a physical education teacher and now as a principal for grades PreK-6 at Green Ridge Elementary. Mrs. Brock is best described as one who keeps the best interests of her students and staff foremost in her thoughts. In difficult situations her common sense approach to carrying out school policies and expectations of the district works very well with parents, students and staff members. She always shows that she cares about the school, the staff, and the students.
As a small rural district faced with an increased enrollment, Mrs. Brock has been very instrumental in the planning and hiring of several additional teachers to her staff. Working with schedules and space problems, that the increased enrollment has produced, have also been challenges that Mrs. Brock has handled in a very professional manner.
Like many rural administrators, Wendy has had many job responsibilities. She participates on the curriculum committee, professional development committee, health advisory board, volunteer program, ESOL program and it is her responsibility to plan and run summer school.
This year, Mrs. Brock was instrumental in introducing a "Multiage" classroom. Approximately 10 - 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are taught in one classroom by two teachers. One of the members of the staff describe her as "full of new ideas and is willing to help implement her ideas". To Wendy's credit, programs that have been added at the Green Ridge School District include an after school home work club, a quarter awards program, an after school day care and a full day pre school program.
One describes her strongest attribute is working with students, helping them academically and resolving discipline issues. To this end, she has established a mutual respect with students through handling of situations with grace and dignity for herself and the student.
Wendy's day is never complete as she is very visible at many High School extra curricular activities and to top it off, she has worked many weekends managing the booster concession stand at the Chiefs games to help raise money for the High School Band program.
Her primary goal has always been to provide that environment that will allow students and teachers achieve their maximum potential. Ask any student or staff member at Green Ridge and they will tell you, Mrs. Brock is an awesome principal and deserving of the 2007 Missouri Outstanding Rural Building Administrator award.
